SINCE opening their woodworking shed last year, the Noosa Men’s Shed has become one of the most popular organisations in the Noosa community.
Noosa Men’s Shed president John Williams said the club had expanded at a great rate, accepting about six new members each month to a healthy total of 115 members.
The club now offers wood working, metal working, art classes and recently held the first Pit Stop day where members could have their health checked by local university students.
Held on Wednesday 15 June, students and staff from the University of the Sunshine Coast and Noosa Council staff dropped in to the Men’s Shed where members could get a range of health issues checked including their blood pressure, to make sure they don’t blow a gasket.
Mr Williams said the day was a great success and members just kept coming.
“I think they like finding new friends, connecting, networking or just finding somewhere to belong,” he said.
Mr Williams said men aged 18 and over were welcomed to join the Men’s Shed and enjoyed the many activities on offer from painting to leather work to woodwork and cooking classes that would hopefully be available soon.
