A sign of the times

By JONATHON HOWARD

BUSINESS owners have backed a call for improved street and tourism signage around Noosa during the monthly Noosa Chamber of Commerce meeting last week.
Councillor Sandy Bolton raised the matter during the meeting on Tuesday, 5 August, at Noosa Civic.
Cr Bolton said Noosa Council was investigating and would eventually seek feedback on the region’s signage and how it could be improved.
Several business owners and operators said the current signs directing traffic were confusing with signs indicating the “northern beaches” and other ambiguous messages.
One business owner suggested more signage to direct traffic to Hastings Street; while others felt shopping precincts could be better served by clearer signs.
Cr Bolton said the matter had prompted a range of spirited debate from residents.
“It’s clear that directional signs could be improved throughout the shire,” she said.
“Council is looking at this and other matters during its weekend meeting.”
The matter was expected to be raised by Noosa Council in the coming weeks.
