Birthing cries get louder

By JONATHON HOWARD

NOOSA mums continue to call for a birthing centre to be built at Noosa Hospital as they reveal their harrowing stories and fears of travelling to Nambour.
“I think a birth centre model is needed for Noosa. I decided to have a home birth because I was worried about my third birth being too quick and did not want to get stuck driving to Nambour,” Tracey Browne with Mia (17 months) of Peregian Springs.

“I had Pepper at Nambour Hospital and it was a good service. However, it was stressful at times because my husband and I don’t have family locally and we had to make the trip several times. I would support a birthing centre in Noosa to help ease some of the travel and provide greater local health services,” Saskia Swain with Pepper (four months) of Noosa Heads.
