Voice like no other

JOE Cocker is a name that resides in glory in the rock world. His gritty tune and all-out performances were capable of moving your soul.
Now there is a chance to relive the emotion that Joe Cocker brought to the stage with The Mad World Blues Band’s tribute show, ‘The Joe Cocker Experience’.
The band pays their respect to an idol by giving everything they’ve got to the crowd. And now, this tribute show, which has received rave reviews from all across Southeast Queensland, will be appearing at the Tewantin Noosa RSL.
The seven-piece band consists of diverse and talented musicians from across the local blues and rock scene including Bruce Bird, Paul Rea, Steve Turner, Ian Lock, Simon Spencer, Gillian Kristensen, and Ellie Jane Gibbs. Each one of these artists have experience playing cover and original works throughout Australia and overseas in their chosen style, but despite varying talents, all these musicians share a love for what they do.
The band is led by singer Bruce Bird, known for his performances at blues and rock festivals across Australia and widely regarded as having a Joe Cocker voice like no other.
“Everyone in the band grew up as huge fans of Joe Cocker’s gritty sound and passion, and we view him as one of the most iconic musicians in rock history, with a voice like no other. We’ve worked very hard to create a show that celebrates this passion and honours Cocker’s legacy. Paul Rea, who plays keyboards in the tribute show, even had the experience of playing with the man himself when Cocker toured Brisbane in 1981,” Bruce said.
The two-hour show presents favourite songs from Joe Cocker’s extensive catalogue including Cry Me A River, Feelin’ Alright, With a Little Help from My Friends, Delta Lady, Up Where we Belong, Unchain My Heart, Many Rivers to Cross, You are So Beautiful, Leave your Hat On, and many more.
The Joe Cocker Experience will be at the Tewantin Noosa RSL, on Friday 23 November, at 8pm. Tickets are free for members and just $10 for non-members. Come on down and enjoy a cold drink, something to eat, and the hits of yesteryear.
