Bowled over with choice

Sunshine Beach State School oval was transformed into six cricket ovals last week for an exciting morning for Year 4 and Year 5 students. With scenes akin to a Sachin Tendulkar documentary twelve teams took part in a modified cricket challenge with 120 kids playing at the same time. The morning was made possible by the support of Queensland Cricket and in particular Development Officer for Qld Cricket, Nic Roberts.
The MILO T20 Blast format gives girls and boys the opportunity to play action packed games of cricket in an active and social setting – all on the one day in a gala day format. Every player gets a chance to bat, bowl and field. It’s an exciting atmosphere, complete with music and dancing just like the KFC T20 Big Bash League.
Physical Education teacher Cameron Porter said the students engagement was maximised by the variety of sports and presenters leading to encouragement of skill development.
