You need look no further than the current discussions surrounding the operations of the Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation and the Noosa Foreshore Master Plan to realise there is no pleasing all the people all the time.
There is a body of research however that suggests the greater the possibility for people to have direct participation in political decisions the happier the society. It stands to reason if people feel their opinion matters over what happens in their community they should feel more in control. But in what is coined ‘direct democracy’ having a say doesn’t always equate to getting your own way. So does that still make people happier? Researchers say it does.
Today is the last day to have your say on Council’s Noosa River Foreshore Master Plan. You could have a say and test the theory.
