It was a star-studded night for the Noosa Heads Surf Club when it hosted the Surf Life Saving Australia reception, last Friday.
The special reception was in honour of the club’s achievements and to recognise the honour of being named the Surf Life Saving Australia Club of the Year for 2013.
Held on the club’s deck, the National SLS Council met and mingled with Noosa Heads SLS members including Noosa Today columnist Ron Lane and Australia’s first female SLS life member, Lenore Grice.
One highlight of the evening was the induction of Lenore Grice into the Australian Life Saving Hall of Fame.
For Lenore’s story see Ron Lane’s article on the back page and his weekly column on page 33.
Member for Noosa Glen Elmes was joined by Deputy Prime Minister and member for Wide Bay Warren Truss as guests of honour, and Surf Life Saving Australia president Graham Ford also spoke to the crowd and was proud to announce $8 million in Federal Government funding for the nation’s 311 surf life saving clubs.
