Lifesavers need a hand

SUNSHINE Beach Surf Life Saving Club began patrols in the season of 1980-’81, making the club one of the youngest surf lifesaving clubs in Queensland.
The community organisation is run by volunteers who are dedicated to protecting members of the public who surf and swim at Sunshine Beach, one of the best open beach surfing breaks in Queensland, and now you can be a part of this great tradition.
Sunshine Beach SLSC is running a pre-season bronze medallion course for new lifesavers. This six-week course is open to anyone 15 years or older who is interested in joining and becoming a volunteer lifesaver.
Training to become a lifesaver will challenge your way of thinking about the aquatic environment and provide you with the skills and knowledge you will need to help keep our beaches safe.
You’ll meet others who share the same ideals and become a part of a dynamic surf club that believes in working and playing as a team.
Challenge yourself, meet new friends, get fit, learn new skills and more.
Join the club as an active member and receive a range of other benefits including free gym membership, discounts on club meals, access to professional coaching programs and more.
The course will run Tuesday evenings from 6pm to 8pm and Sundays from 7am to 2pm over a six-week period commencing Tuesday 2 August.
