Jail for hit and run offender

JOLENE OGLE
The man who struck a father and son as they crossed the road has been sentenced to 15 months jail and disqualified from driving for four years.

Peri King was riding a motorbike on Gympie Terrace in October last year when he tried to overtake a four-wheel drive that had stopped at a pedestrian crossing.
King’s motorbike collided with the father and son, nine, leaving the boy with a suspected skull fracture.
King pleaded guilty to six charges, including one count each of dangerous driving, serious obstruction of police, failure to remain at the scene of an accident and driving without a licence, when he appeared in Noosa Magistrate’s Court last month.
Court was adjourned until April 15 for sentencing to be considered.
In addition to 15 months jail, King was fined $396 for driving an uninsured and unregistered motorbike.
