Bowlers make their presence felt

Pomona Bowls
Pomona Bowls Club celebrated the birthday of the ladies’ section this week with a great competition with teams from most other clubs in the division joining us for the fun. Eventual winners were G. McAuliffe, G. Morley, P. Kay and R. Davies. Runners-up were S. Foale, S. Millar, M. Hobbins and L. McDougall.
The Neilson’s sponsored day on Thursday saw a few enthusiastic players take to the green for an afternoon of three bowls pairs. Winners were S. Foale and P. Gray-Spence. Runners-up S. Millar and W. Horn, and third place to R. Murray and G. Mitchell.
The Men’s Triples Championship was played over the weekend, but the results will be in next week’s report. – Hidden Jack
Cooroy Bowls
Bowlers are enjoying the beautiful spring weather at the moment, with good numbers on the green. Our host, Ron has kindly donated a $25 meal voucher as a raffle prize each Tuesday. We have also voted to cease prize money and decrease the fees for Tuesday Jackpot Pairs and Saturday Jackpot Pairs. The jackpot will still be increasing each week as per usual. If you feel like a game, contact Terence on 0411 424 170 for Tuesday or David or Lynne on 0414 833 546 for Saturday.
Winners last Tuesday were Julie Ainscough and Roley Hassall. The Business Bowlers have SEC, Belvedere, Bandido’s@the Hub, Thunderbirds, Renderers, Bonnells and Harveys as victors.The High Rollers challenge sees JeLS, Eumundi Boys and 101’s as joint leaders. BAM, Bushrangers, Kybong Kids and Royal Flush are joint second place winners. Our new team ‘Golden Girls’ will be a force to be reckoned with as all ladies play a mean game of bowls.
Finally, if you are looking for good value for Melbourne Cup Day, why not try the luncheon at the Hub? $45 for a three-course meal with complimentary wine/beer on arrival, sweeps, raffles, fashions etc. Ring the Hub on 5472 0907 to secure a table.

Noosa Heads Bowls
One of the most popular events on the Noosa Bowls calendar is the Laguna Mixed Medley, scheduled for Thursday 30 October. Mens Pairs, Ladies Pairs, Mixed Pairs and Mixed Fours are decided during the all-day competition, providing a $1500 prize pool. The closing date for team entries is next Monday, with entry forms available at the Noosa Heads club, or phone 5447 3433 to secure a place.
The night pennant series got off to a good start for our club last Thursday with a hard-fought win over Pacific Paradise. Scoring in the men’s and ladies pairs and the mixed fours, Noosa took six of the available nine points from the encounter. This week we play at Tewantin.
Last Tuesday’s pairs comp was won by Alan Teale and John Brock, with second prize going to Neville Graham and Ron Wallish. Wednesday was ladies triples with the winners Debbie Austin, Jeanette Emery and Gill Macdonald. The old combo of Terry O’Neill and Niven Gugich scored in the Friday Open Jackpot Pairs, with Andrew McCall and Bob Heir runners-up.
Triples winners on Saturday were John-Paul Sengers, Sophie Gale and David Nimmo. While, in the pairs section, the winners were Steve Bowie and Stewart Black, who also won the jackpot prize.
In club championships, the ladies Consistency final is scheduled to be decided this Wednesday, and the first round of the Open Singles is set down for Saturday.

Tewantin Noosa Bowls
Sunshine and St Therese Schools have enjoyed their ‘Barefoot’ Bowls this School term, thank you to David Muir and his helpers. Our Night Pennant slogged it out with Coolum winning at Coolum 3 rinks to 2. Night Pennant, this Thursday at 6pm we play Noosa Heads at TNBC, supporters are welcome.
