Cops on a healthy mission

By JONATHON HOWARD

NOOSA police are on a mission to get kids physically active through youth-focused programs and the hosting of the Noosa Blue Light dance parties.
Our local boys in blue have teamed up with BCC Noosa Cinemas to host a special advance screening of “Let’s Be Cops” on Friday 5 November, at 7pm.
Ticket sales from the movie night will go towards engaging kids in active ways with the focus on fun through physical activity.
The police are calling on residents to purchase tickets from BCC Noosa Cinemas or Noosa police station and show their support.
Each year Noosa police develops ideas to get kids active as well as ways to encourage social engagement with their peers – away from the distractions of technology and social media.
This year Noosa police Senior Constable and Blue Light co-ordinator Darryn Parkes said community support was urgently needed and greatly appreciated.
Businesses are also being encouraged to put up lucky-door prizes for the movie night.
“We’re looking for a local business to come on board with a monthly sponsorship package,” he said.
“Businesses will have the chance to present their logos on the big screen during the Blue Light dance parties and have their business name presented on any promotional material for the Blue Light.”
The film fund-raiser, Let’s Be Cops, is a comedy starring Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr, scheduled for release next month.
The film features two struggling friends who decide to dress as police officers for a costume party and become neighbourhood sensations.
But when these newly minted “heroes” get tangled in a real life web of mobsters and dirty detectives, they must put their fake badges on the line.
To find out more about getting involved with assisting the local youth, or sponsorship packages, email Sen Const Darryn Parkes at: Parkes.DaryynR@police.qld.gov.au or phone Noosa police.
