U8s Match report by Will Vine

The Eumundi Dragons U8’s were up against the well-drilled Grammar team held at the Beautiful grounds at Matthew Flinders school. It was a great display from Grammar in the first half who were able to put a number of tries on the board against us. The second half we all held our heads high and worked together allowing Max Johnson to score 2 tries out wide to lift our spirits. Our forwards Josh Vine, Oakey Dean and Jasper Bianchi then stepped up a level and held the strong forward pack of Grammer back to allow our backs, who consisted of Max Johnson, Ted Wiles, Jet Davis, Tristan Adams, Zimmi Desbiens, to run with the ball, look for support and enjoy playing rugby. Our Player of the game this week went to Ted Wiles for his energetic field presence and confidence to take on one of the biggest boys in Grammar’s team and still get back up and keep on playing. I would just like to thank the parents, team managers jersey washers who all support the team every week by making it to training and game day. It is a pleasure watching your kids develop into fine Ruby players.

Rugby Under 9’s by Jim Yaxley

The Eumundi Dragons- Maleny Bushrangers game on 19 May saw the Dragons expressing their tactics on the field to an awesome effect. The game was dominated by some excellent tackling using techniques that had been focused on in training over the previous weeks by our coaches.

Our new player Eli Brumley showed his awesome potential both with highest number of tackles for any player and using his speed in moving the ball up the field.

Patrick O’Grady has blossomed as player transforming from an awesome tackler into a vigorous forward scoring his first try of the season and who could not stop smiling the entire day.

Jet Herbert once again showed his amazing speed and agility in scoring most of the try’s for the Dragons with an exceptional try by Tom Wiles.

All the Eumundi Dragons played their positions well and when in the Melee displayed good to team effort the game.

Through our coaches the players have really come together as a team being there to support their mates in moving the ball forwards through the lines.

Well done Dragons
