The Rogue Toad

The Rogue Toad is a hilarious tale of love and mate-ship on the Noosa River.

A play loosely based on the characters of Wind in the Willows but with a very Australian twist is to be performed onboard the Noosa Ferry in May as part of the Anywhere Theatre Festival.

There are over 1.4 billion Cane Toads in Australia but the Noosa River is the only place with The Rogue Toad, a jovial little guy with a passionate view of the current political climate. Toad likes to help out, protect our shores, party hard and skip showers. His mate Rat needs his help and he is all too willing to oblige.

With our loveable characters on a mission to get Mole and Badger back to their homelands this play is a riotous look at Australian culture through the eyes of our anthropomorphic friends. The rhyming Goanna weaves indigenous history, along with facts about the local fauna, into this

humorous tale. There’s a family of Blue Tongues along for the ride, so you can imagine the fun to be had.

The play was written by local drama teacher, actress and award winning director Tania Nash. As an actress Tania has performances in many local productions including Minefields and Miniskirts, A Midsummer Night’s Dream,

The Fall and Rise of Mr Scrooge, five pantomimes and several One Act Plays for Noosa Arts Theatre and Coolum Theatre Players .

Tania has also directed for Noosa Arts Theatre, winning the Audience Choice and Best Director Award at Sunshine Coast Theatre Festival for Dotty’s Inheritance and Best Director for Dead Loss at Noosa One Act Play.

Tania is joined by local coast actors, Ali Lombole, Glen Miller, Veronica Inchauspe and Neil Nash.

The Rogue Toad is light hearted and loads of fun and all set on the Noosa River. The play takes place on the Noosa Ferry and includes a couple of glasses of either wine, beer, sparkling or OJ and the cost is only $30 11am.

26 and 27 May at Noosa Marina, 2 Parkyn Parade, Tewantin.
