Festival has water, wonder and the works

THE 11th annual Noosa Festival of Water is on this Sunday 28 June, from 10am to 3pm, at the Noosa Botanic Gardens’ Lake Macdonald Amphitheatre.
Come along to learn more about local catchments and the diversity of life through information displays, wildlife shows, guided tours and free kids activities including face painting, jumping castle and creative art activities.
Budding anglers can also learn to fish at the fishing clinic with experts from the Lake Borumba Fish Stocking Association.
Seqwater will be at the festival to help event goers learn more about the dam improvement project at Lake Macdonald as well as get a look inside the Noosa Water Treatment Plant during one of Seqwater’s festival tours.
Seqwater chief executive officer Peter Dennis said Seqwater was proud to be part of the annual festival, which highlighted the diversity of life in and around our waterways.
“Festival attendees are invited to register for one of two tours we’ll conduct on Sunday, at 11am and 2pm,” Mr Dennis said.
“The tours, which will take one hour, will start from Kookaburra Park on Collwood Road. The tour will take people to the Lake Macdonald spillway to learn about the history of the lake, catchment management and the Lake Macdonald Dam Improvement Project.
“From there, the group will walk down to Noosa Water Treatment Plant and tour the facility for a firsthand look at how we produce safe, high quality water for the community.”
The Lake Macdonald Amphitheatre will also host a line-up of live music including performances from Bearfoot and Andrea Kirwin.
The Noosa Festival of Water will be held from 10am to 3pm, on Sunday 28 June, and will be officially opened by Councillor Tony Wellington. Entry is free.
For event information, visit the Noosa Festival of Water Facebook page or phone the Mary River Catchment Co-ordinating Committee on (07) 5482 4766.
