Last chance to be in the swim

TODAY (Friday) is the last day to pre-register for the Noosa Open Day swim at Noosa Main Beach this Sunday.
World Series Swims is giving Queenslanders a chance to defy winter and get back in the water with the new Noosa Open Day that encourages everyone to give swimming a go.
Organisers said the event was not a typical ocean swim as there were no timed races, no prizes or presentations and swimmers were encouraged to wear whatever swimming aid they liked.
The open day is all in the name of training and also includes free swim clinics with elite coaches, stretch yoga sessions, sports physio and the option of a day pass where you can swim in all events on the program.
World Series Swims director John Guise said it would be a much more relaxed take on larger summer events like the Noosa Summer Swim in February.
“It will be very social and only as competitive as you want it to be – you can even wear fins or floaties if you like,” he said.
“The course is also very simple, spanning the width of Main Beach – it’s as close as you can get to a pool lane in the ocean!”
A one-kilometre course will be set up on Noosa Main Beach, with local surf clubs managing the water safety throughout the day.
Events this Sunday include 1km, 2km, 3km and 5km distances. For more information or to enter online visit worldseriesswims.com.au Online entries close at 5pm Friday June 24, with day entries available on event day from 8am at Main Beach.
