Juniors take to the field

Under 7s Pirates team.

There are lots of good news stories to share … in particular receiving the grant from Qld Government and Noosa Council for new lights on Field 1 was one massive highlight for all that were involved in that project.
The lights are bigger and brighter than ever and all players love playing Friday night games under them.
The NDJRL is extremely grateful to both Government and Council for such a generous boost in funds.
Last year, 2016, saw the introduction of Under 6 year olds being involved in the greatest game of all.
Boys and girls as young as four have been playing rugby league this year. In a modified game on a smaller field with a reduced number of kids on the field, this allowed so many more kids to get off the lounge and away from screens and out on the paddock. So awesome to watch!
The Girls League also went from strength to strength seeing the Under 14s team making it into the finals.
Female team numbers are starting to grow and NDJRL hope to field three full teams from Under 14s to Under 18s in 2018.
Something that has caused a big buzz around the place is the amalgamation between the Juniors and the Seniors Pirate Clubs.
This is a necessary venture to grow rugby league in this region and provide positive pathways for all players.
Lastly, NDJRL could not have achieved all of the above success without the generosity and support of their sponsors:
– Bendigo Bank and Eumundi Sport & Recreation Club funded the Richie Johnston Mini Mod Carnival. A huge carnival that saw teams come together at Cooroy from as far south as Bribie Island and as far north as Roma and Maryborough. Kennards Hire Noosaville also generously donated all the equipment needed for this carnival.
– Davos Tackle World in Noosaville for their generous support and barbecue fundraising opportunities.
– IGA Cooroy and Pomona were brilliant in providing all the grocery goods for barbecues and in the canteen.
– Mountain Dew Cooroy for providing all the water needed to keep kids hydrated.
– Tewantin Noosa RSL offered up their facilities for functions and support for our events that were held throughout the year.
– Anytime Fitness Cooroy provided training facilities for the club’s Young Guns, with Tyrepower, Hargraves Real Estate, Suncoast Waterproofing and North Coast Batteries providing much-appreciated funds throughout the year to help the running of the club.
NDJRL are looking forward to 2018 already, its going to be a cracking year!
