Sunshine’s sound of success

FAMED Australian conductor, Richard Gill OAM, is headlining the inaugural Sunshine Coast Music Education Conference being held on Wednesday 8 July at St Andrew’s Anglican College.
As one of the country’s pre-eminent and most admired conductors, Mr Gill will spend time with music teachers from across the state providing inspiration on how they can engage students and their parents by being engaged teachers.
Mr Gill will be joined by some of Queensland’s best music teachers and presenters, including Maree Henessey from Brisbane’s Somerville House who is also Lead Writer for the Curriculum Into the Classroom (C2C) for The Arts, and Russell Bauer from Sheldon College in Redland Bay.
Cade Bonar, Head of Music at St Andrew’s Anglican College, said the Sunshine Coast Music Education Conference seeks to contribute to the community of classroom music teachers on the Sunshine Coast and beyond.
“This conference is an opportunity to inform the provision of highest quality classroom music education in schools,” Mr Bonar said.
“It’s exciting that we have the opportunity to welcome the inspirational Richard Gill, OAM to help deliver our conference. Richard, together with our presenters Maree and Russell, are of the highest calibre, and importantly are teachers themselves.
“Working to the conference theme of ‘Engaged Teachers, Engaged Students’, they will challenge and inspire our thinking through active workshops and discussions,” Mr Bonar said.
