Grant funding for big ideas

The Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation (NBRF) called a meeting Wednesday morning seeking the next Big Ideas in environment it would support through grant funding.
The Big Ideas fund aims to support projects that deliver environmental and socio-economic outcomes for the NBRF.
NBFR chairman Dick Barnes said big ideas did not necessarily imply big budgets.
The project has a total budget of $330,000 with approval of ideas set by the end of the year.
“Big Ideas projects costing less than $20,000 may be approved directly from the Expressions of Interest. Projects over $20,000 will require full project documentation,” he said.
Previously approved Big Ideas include the creation of a botanical field guide which serves as an educational resource, weed eradication and erosion mediation in the Kin Kin area.
Mr Barnes said the grants differed from other Noosa Council grants by being directed at projects that both contributed to the natural environment and developed the socio-economic structure.
The first stage expressions of interest will close on 25 August.
