Any fan of the classic movie, The Blues Brothers will instantly become a fan of Soul Men when the band performs faithful reproductions of Blues Brothers numbers in a high-octane musical entertainment experience.
The band of 12 is made up of musicians from around the country including the Gold Coast, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. Soul Men was formed in mid-2009 in response to a call for a soul rhythm and blues review in south-east Queensland.
The front line includes Jake Blues, who has had previously performed the role at Universal Studios Japan; a role he won in a world-wide audition.
Elwood provides the perfect foil singing his share of songs and Queen Mousette excels singing the songs of Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner. She is so good the band had to add more classic R’n’B numbers to the show to allow her to respond to the calls of encore.
The four-piece rhythm section chug along with an infectious groove. Add two trumpets, two saxophones, a trombone and the sound the band makes is simply irresistible. With choreographed dancing, scripted jokes, and professional acting, you have a complete Blues Brothers entertainment experience.
