FEDERAL Member for Wide Bay and Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss today announced that $117,400 will be provided under the Federal Government’s ‘Safer Streets Program’ to improve Noosa Junction’s CCTV.
“The Coalition Government will fund the installation of local CCTV camera surveillance and improved lighting at the transit centre at Noosa Junction,” Mr Truss said.
“The transit centre is a hub of activity within the Noosa community and I am pleased to deliver on my election commitment to make Noosa safer.
“The CCTV network helps people to feel safer and more secure in their neighbourhoods.”
CCTV cameras provide an additional layer of security to help protect and improve the safety of our community.
Mr Truss said the presence of CCTV cameras also provided a deterrent to those who might consider breaking the law.
“Potential offenders will think twice about possible criminal behaviour if their chances of being caught on camera are high,” he said.
“The Safer Streets Program builds on the former Coalition Government’s National Community Crime Prevention Program, which was a popular grassroots initiative that delivered better protection to local communities.”
