The surf patrol season officially kicked off on Saturday 7am sharp, with more than 190 Nippers taking to the beach to start their training and all life guards undergoing skill maintenance.
Sunshine Beach Surf Club captain Scott Summers said most of the preparation for the season is done during the winter months, which sees all equipment checked and updated.
Scott said there were no major incidents to report from the first weekend of the season but stressed it is important to always swim between the flags.
