WHAT better way to kick off Kin Kin’s inaugural story-telling festival, The Kin Kin Yarn, than with four talented, entertaining wordsmiths.
Going by the name, A Pack of Bards, the men rejuvenate the medieval role of a professional poet known as a bard, and often employed to compose eulogies for the lord of the manor.
Bards were also regarded as keepers of history, transmitting the stories of their people through song and poetry.
The Kin Kin Yarn opening breakfast will be hosted by Ian Mackay, who has hosted a number of regional poet’s breakfasts including the Maleny Music Weekend, Kenilworth Art Festival and Christmas in Cooroy.
In the words of event organiser, Allan Bonsall, “Ian is a green-thumbed mulcher of words”.
Robin ‘Archie’ Archbold, ‘Irish Joe’ Lynch and Harry ‘H’ Donnelly make up the pack of bards and will surely delight the audience with their impressive swag of poetic talent.
The Kin Kin Yarn is on 5 October, from 9am to 4pm, at the Kin Kin Oval. For more information, visit www.kinkinyarn.com.
