Wild Women hit the track

Ready to run.

About 140 brave and intrepid women took to the trails on 15 October for the 50km Wild Women Adventure Race in the beautiful Noosa Hinterland.
Spokeswoman Jan Leverton said while the weather didn’t come to the party, the women crossed the finish line beaming after completing a 10km trek to Lake Macdonald, 5km paddle followed by a mountain-bike ride.
Then they walked a slackline, shot a shanghai and forded a rainforest creek – nothing was too hard for these Wild Women – and all arrived back in Pomona with a few extra freckles from the mud and the experience of a lifetime.
“It was great to see women of all ages competing – the oldest being in her 70th year,” she said. “There were some great family combinations as well. Most of the competitors were first-timers and they proved that you don’t have to be an elite athlete to do this sort of thing.”
First across the line was the experienced team Mountain Designs Wild Women, followed by ThomTam and Giddy-Up Girls rounding out the podium.
The event was sponsored by Tourism Noosa, Mountain Designs, Area51, RACV Noosa Resort, Em’s Power Cookies, Skirtsports Australia, Noosa Springs, Venture Cycles, Adventurethon, Buslink Qld and Rapha.
