MAJOR winners Wayne Grady and Ian Baker Finch teed off in the inaugural John Madill Toyota Legends Tour Pro Am at the Phil Scott-designed championship golf course at Peregian Springs Golf Club on Wednesday 17 December.
Other Australian golfing legends, Terry Price, Roger Davis, Anthony Gilligan and Brian Jones plus 164 other players made up the star-studded field.
Some months ago, Declan McCollam CEO of the Peregian Springs Golf Club contacted Mark Tickle from Noosa Golf Club and the pair decided to work together to host two pro ams in one week.
The objective was to make coming to the region as attractive as possible to players. This, plus their joint golf connections enabled them to attract some of Australian golfing’s finest.
John Madill, from John Madill Toyota, major sponsor of the Peregian Springs event and a long-term supporter of the local community, looked forward to being involved.
“To have two players who have won golf majors internationally in our event, is a huge coup. Peregian Springs is an outstanding venue and the course is in excellent condition. We are looking forward to a great day.” he said.
A $15,000 prize purse was up for grabs.
Other sponsors included Titleist, Footjoy, Ping, Srixon, XXXX, Yalumba Wines, Coca Cola, Club Car and Zachary’s Pizza Restaurants. Club Car offered up a Hole in One prize of a new Club Car golf cart on the 12th hole.
