Taxi’s give a warm welcome

By JOLENE OGLE

ALMOST 40 of the Sunshine Coast’s taxi drivers are geared up to provide a warm Welcome to Noosa this Summer season, having recently completed the Welcome to Noosa program.
Welcome to Noosa is an online training program that provides basic information on Noosa – why the region is so special, its history, key things to do in Noosa, information on the Noosa Biosphere and more, as well as providing great customer service strategies and information on workplace health and safety.
The program helps operators to deliver a memorable experience for Noosa visitors and local customers alike, increasing the likelihood of visitor satisfaction and repeat travel which will help retain and build local jobs.
Local taxi driver Peter Camilleri said the program was great and he looked forward to sharing the information learnt.
“Our business is about providing service to locals and visitors and the program had some great information in there that we can share with everyone,” he said.
Suncoast Cabs GM John Lobwein praised the Welcome to Noosa program and said there are plans to introduce the program to all new taxi drivers on the Sunshine Coast.
Tourism Noosa CEO Damien Massingham said it was great to see Suncoast Cabs getting behind the Welcome to Noosa program and encouraging their cab drivers to complete the course.
“Taxi Drivers are an important part of our community and at the front line in terms of providing a positive image and message to visitors to Noosa. Congratulations and thank you to all our cabbies for getting behind Welcome to Noosa,” he said.
“We held a specific group training session for the taxi drivers which is a great way for a business to get bulk team members through the program. This is something we can do for any business and I would encourage anyone operating a business in Noosa to come on board and complete the program.”
