Anzac spirit imbibes Eagles

By JULES ROSENKRANZ

NOOSA Eagles Soccer Club played their first home game at the Good Shepherd Lutheran College this Anzac Day weekend; it was great to see so many Eagles ranging from ages five to 13 year olds.
It was a windy, blustery day but the cooler day was certainly welcomed. This week the Noosa Eagles Red U8 defeated Noosa Eagles Gold U8 five to three. It was a close match up between the teams.
The boys have been talking about this game as the one for the season. The reds scored early with Elliot’s (red) goal. Gold levelled the scoring, and it was still tight at half time being ahead three to two.
Lauchlan Broadfoot (red) made some great saves in goal and continued to play well in the second half with some great defence. Tyler Lodge (red) was unlucky to not get a goal this week, having one disallowed when he was just inside the circle.
Marley Browne (red) had his work cut out in second half and earned his player of the day award in goal. The boys played well as a team, and kept their winning streak for the season unbeaten so far this year.
Joel Fitzgerald (gold) having a blinder scoring all three goals for gold.
The man in defence for Gold we call ‘The Goalfather’ Xavier Attard took home Player of the Match for doing what he does best.
The Under 9 Black team had another great game, defeating the Chancellor Cyclones four to zero. Alaska Rosenkranz (2 goals) came out strong, scoring his first goal in the opening two minutes, the Cyclones tried hard but the defence, which included Jaimen Slavin, who also took home Player of the Week for the Eagles, were too strong.
Nathan Hindmarsh also played an awesome game, scoring the other two goals for the Eagles. Under 11 Gold won their first game of the season 16 to one, defeating the Buderim Strikers.
The team took the field with only 10 players and considering this, the team had an excellent game.
Noosa Gold goals were scored by Hayden Martin, Jude Youens, Hunter Baistow, Jai Stuart and Innocent Sibanda. Tyler Brokamp had an outstanding game as goalkeeper and he was ajudged Player of the Week.
Noosa Eagles soccer club is still seeking extra players for U6, U7 and U13 teams. Contact the registrar on 0417 554 063 or check us out on Facebook.
