Peregian Surf Club employees without work

By JONATHON HOWARD

THE former staff of the Peregian Members Club are struggling to find local employment, following the club’s shock closure last month.
Former Peregian Members Club manager, Martin Isherwood, heaped praise on his former team of 18 fulltime, part-time and casual staff.
He offered a glowing reference to any potential Noosa employers wanting to throw them a lifeline.
Mr Isherwood himself was also struggling to secure a new management role in Noosa and he is considering shifting his young family.
“There’s simply not a lot of work – particularly during end of financial year,” he said.
“I’m weighing up my options and I’m applying for jobs in Byron Bay or possibly even Port Macquarie – I’d love to stay in Noosa.”
The former Peregian Members Club head chef, who was building a home in Noosa and has a new born baby, was fortunate enough to secure full-time employment.
“Our head chef picked up some work, which he was desperate to find as he is building a house locally,” Mr Isherwood said.
“I can offer a reference for any of the former staff and I can say personally that these employees were both dedicated and experienced in hospitality.”
The Peregian Members Club was closed in late June following a financial audit from Surf Life Saving QLD’s head office based in Mooloolaba.
It is unknown whether the club will re-open in the foreseeable future.
Any potential Noosa or Sunshine Coast employers are asked to contact Mr Isherwood on 0422 053 028.
