NOOSA Open Studios is inviting guests into the private studios of local artists to celebrate the diverse talent hidden in the Noosa Shire.
Jump on the bus and escape into the world of Noosa Shire’s most talented individuals where you will experience a rare insight into the world of art.
Artist of all mediums will welcome guests, including landscape artists such as Jill Harris, Clare Riddington, Pam Taylor, Barbara Hamilton, James Ainslie and Jenny Hines who all seek inspiration from the surrounding environment.
Noosa Open Studio landscape artist Barbara Hamilton said she found inspiration in her local environment.
“I find the nearby beach walks really focus my attention on the light and mood for my work, especially when painting local scenes,” she said.
Landscapes are a very diverse and complex genre with many artists focusing on a wide range of mediums and styles.
Noosa Open Studios award-winning landscape artist James Ainslie creates modern realist landscapes as well as abstract and semi abstract.
Through the use of startling colours, some artists choose to conjure up emotionally charged visions such as Noosa Open Studios artist Pam Taylor. Pam said her work had been inspired by Jeffrey Smart and his use of bold colour, shapes and graphic form.
“I am experimenting with my interpretation of urban landscapes and have always been drawn to photograph brightly coloured houses on my travels around the world,” she said.
The end product can be a realistic interpretation of the landscape or even an abstract view of it such as the work of Noosa Open Studios artist Jenny Hines.
“My work is inspired by the energy created by the magic, tension and conflict when edges such as land meets sea or when sea meets horizon,” she said.
“This is where the pictorial elements of the landscape become subtly abstract. Where line intersects or intrudes on another form and where form meets form.”
Artists Jill Harris and Clare Riddington Jones said they focused on the “atmosphere” rather than the landscape, itself.
“I strive to create the atmosphere of the moment- to feel the temperature, the chill of the morning, the heat in the afternoon, or the oncoming cool as evening approaches,” Jill said.
“My work is highly influenced by the natural beauty of the Noosa area and by my many years of travel in the outback,” Clare Riddington said.

Over 40 artists and artisans will be welcoming attendees to their own unique creative space. Studio Bus Tours are available with pick-up points in Hastings Street, Gympie Terrace and at the event Hub at Wallace House in Noosaville.
