The recently re-established Katie Rose Cottage has just been given a large cash injection, thanks to a mysterious benefactor, with directors now looking for a permanent home for the community organistion.
Katie Rose Cottage chairperson Carol Raye said the sizeable donation would allow the community hospice organisation to buy a secure and permanent home.
“This significant donation will now allow the charity to proceed immediately with the purchase of a suitable property, which the charity will own freehold,” she said.
“There are simply no words to express our gratitude for the overwhelming support that our benefactors have offered to us, and it is indeed recognition of the hard work that has gone into establishing this new charity.”
Ms Raye said the benefactors wanted to remain anonymous, but she wanted to sincerely thank them for “supporting the vision” of Katie Rose Cottage.
“It is an extraordinary gesture from our benefactors … we are indeed indebted to them,” she said.
Ms Raye said the organisation’s current temporary facility near Cooroy had offered the hospice a place to set-up administration and establish services such as counselling, hospice day care, outreach services and 24-hour hospice care.
“The directors are now working on the purchase of a new suitable and permanent site, and hope to be able to announce confirmation of a contract in the very near future,” Ms Raye said.
“Along with our sincere appreciation for the generosity of spirit and belief in our charity by our benefactors, we know that our plans for a hospice to open sooner will now come to fruition and this is, after all, what the community is supporting.
“A special mention must be made of our volunteer teams, shop volunteers, gardening and housekeeping teams, those assisting us with fund-raising and the admin support team, who have all been working tirelessly since we commenced just four months ago,” she said.
