Controlled fire to reduce the load

IT’S looking a little hazy in Noosaville but don’t worry, the fire service confirmed it’s smoke from a back-burn taking place in the Marcus Beach sand dunes.
Noosa Fire and Rescue Inspector and Area Commander Rob Frey said the burn is being conducted by Parks and Wildlife as is vital to prevent issues in the coming summer.
Mr Frey said the smoke is heavy because the 67 hectares of dunes haven’t been burnt back in over 25 years.
“The area is very heavily fuel loaded, so it’s hot and creating a fair bit of smoke,” he said.
