Hangin’ 10 on screen

THE dates are in for the Noosa Surf Film Festival for 2016, and it will be held on 6-8 October.
The J will once again host two nights of screenings comprised of selected films. Attendees are encouraged to stick around for a Q and A with filmmakers and other talent.
This year’s festival will include four epic screenings, an art show, launch event and party, and entertainment by local musicians to set the vibe.
Last year’s inaugural festival was a massive success. With submissions coming in from more than 15 countries around the world, the NSFF 2015 attracted surfers and film buffs from all over the east coast of Australia.
Locals, Andrea Kirwin, Harry Kemp and Felicity Burdett provided the soundtrack as hundreds mingled over two days of screenings.
Five screenings played before sold-out crowds, whose full bellies and liquid cheer were provided by local vendors.
The stoke carried over into an interactive panel with some of the region’s major figures in surfboard shaping as well as a few post-screening parties.
The atmosphere was electric as artist and film-maker Josh Ruffed took home the viewers’ choice prize with is short animation titled “Saturday 6.27am”.
The NSFF 2015 was clearly not your average film festival. The sold-out attendance was as diverse as the individuals drawn to surf culture itself.
