Big year in the swim

By ALASDAIR SCOTT

AS ANOTHER year goes racing by, the Eumundi Swim Club can look back on a year of major changes, several swimming firsts and some fantastic memories. For the club and its members, we can also look forward to some exciting times ahead.
Time is all-important in swimming, whether it be those early morning training sessions, qualifying times or personal bests!
At Eumundi the focus is always on each swimmer doing their personal best and being part of a supportive and fun-loving team.
Head Coach, Lachie McLean has settled into his new role and all the swimmers have responded well to his feedback and swim programs.
Swim club on Thursday nights has been particularly enjoyed by the younger swimmers, with several competing in their first carnivals this year.
New members are always welcome, just come along to the Eumundi pool for a 6pm start or contact Alasdair Scott (0427 056 287) for more details.
Recent meets at Cooroy, Kawana and Bundaberg have all seen excellent turn-outs and results for the Eumundi Club.
Special mention though to Kaitlyn Walker, who is the first Eumundi swimmer to attain a Nationals qualifying time for the 100m Butterfly.
Following Troy Carlson’s Queensland Record and Zac Templeton’s performances in New Zealand as part of the Wide Bay representative team; our little club has much to be proud of.
The dedication, behaviour and attitude of all the Super Squad swimmers is a credit to each and every one of them, their families and their coach! For many of our swimmers, the target times and pinnacle event is the State Championships in Brisbane on 13 December.
It is a fantastic achievement for Eumundi Swim Club to have several swimmers competing as individuals and to have two girl relay teams entered. Good luck to them all.
