Parents back their young players

By DES ADSETT

Club championships continue this weekend with the Juniors playing on Friday night from 4.30pm.
It is always enjoyable watching such good tennis playing with great parent support and good sportsmanship. Good luck to all juniors.
Last week, the B Grade Mixed Doubles were contested.
Unfortunately, a lot of the regular players were unavailable which left an exciting three-way competition.
First up, Des and Annette Adsett beat the defending champions Lynn Heath and Peter McCall 6-2.
Then the third couple, Joan Payton and Ian Ross, beat Des and Annette 6-2.
The third set in the round robin resulted in Lynn and Peter winning 6-1 and becoming winners on countback with Des and Annette second.
The club said there has never been such a close competition.
Congratulations to Lynn and Peter for retaining their title.
Another win for Coolum was in the Friday ladies fixtures.
Coolum Tourists Donna, Marlene, Chris and Annette Taylor beat Nambour in Division 2 by 38-32, 5 sets to 3.
There was also a winner in the Juniors and two runners up.
Division 7 Kristan and Shiran McLean were winners while James Christie and Zade Kurdi were runners up in Division 4 and Kirsty Drain and Rehym Glover were runner up in Division 6.
Our next social occasion is the Christmas Party on Sunday 7 December starting at 3pm. The cost is $10 for adults and free for children.
Organisers are asking people to bring a plate to share, either fruit, nibbles salad or dessert. The club provides ham.
Also to make the occasion festive, those who attend are asked to wear red or green and bring a decoration for the Christmas tree.
Presentations will be made to the club championship winners.
The tennis courts will be open from 2pm.
All tennis players are invited including the fixture players, social players, juniors, key members and all supporters.
The club hopes to have the best Christmas party yet.
