Vocalists go for gold on world stage

LOCAL performers Janene Pearson and Graeme Maxwell-Jones have been selected to represent Australia at the 2015 World Championships of Performing Arts in the USA.
Now in its 19th year, the championships will be held in July and are an invitation-only event where aspiring performers and entertainers compete to catch the eye of the international performance industry.
The entrants are screened, selected and invited to the championships by national directors stationed in their countries.
Australian national director Lizette Hunt said this was an opportunity of a lifetime for Janene and Graeme, who would perform on a “world stage”.
“(The competition) could open many career doors for both of them, whom we are certain will bring back gold for Australia,” she said.
Eumundi locals Janene and Graeme, who perform under the names Gypsy J and Maaxi Max, are both vocalists and said they are “thrilled” to be a part of team Australia at the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA).
The pair, who also perform as a steam punk themed duo, are hoping to bring home gold for Australia, and they just might if this year’s results are an indication.
The Australian team brought home over 200 medals including 13 grand finalists, 18 industry awards, 16 major sponsorships and 38 awards.
Janene and Graeme said, to reach the world stage, they still need additional sponsorship and are calling on local businesses to help them reach the world.
If you would like to help, call Janene on 0478 378 678.
