Dolphins see the liught

THE Noosa Dolphins will be swimming in light thanks to a cash injection from the State Government to install a solar system at the clubhouse.
Member for Noosa Glen Elmes announced the Noosa District Rugby Union Club will receive a $26,525.45 grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF).
“The grant, sourced from gaming tax revenues, will help to off-set the rising costs of electricity, an expense that places significant financial pressure on small community groups and organisations,” Mr Elmes said.
“The club is well known and much loved in the Noosa community and is the result of the work of hard working volunteers. Grant programs such as the GCBF have become a lifeline for clubs such as the Dolphins, who contribute to the health and wellbeing of our society and in particular our youth.”
Earlier this month, Mr Elmes presented one of the club’s founders Max Gunthorpe with a Noosa Electorate Queensland Day Award for his 30-year plus contribution to the club as well as his involvement with setting up a Supporters Club network for fund-raising.
“The not-for-profit sector is consistently challenged to find new sources of funding and a cost reduction plan is a great addition to any financial management strategy,” Mr Elmes said.
“The beauty of installing solar of course is not only the potential to save on electricity charges but where possible to generate an income stream from feeding back in to the grid.”
