Land carers awarded

By Hollie Harris

COOLUM and North Shore Coast Care took out the National Landcare Award last week for coast care at a National Awards Ceremony in Melbourne.
President Leigh Warneminde was there in person to accept the award.
“The work undertaken by our coast care volunteers across the Maroochy north shore and beyond has been formally honoured by Landcare Australia.
“The award has been earned by showcasing the hard work and dedication of our members.
“Both the poster produced by Susan Richards and the video put together by Di and Birte was presented at the Landcare conference.
“Both perfectly highlighted the huge variety of meaningful activities undertaken by our organisation and looked incredibly professional.
“When you see coast care activities are condensed into a five-minute grab it is indeed impressive.
“It is both a humbling experience and a great honour to be part of a great community group that manages to get amazing results by doing practical projects to enhance the natural environment we are so privileged to call home,“ Mr Warneminde said.
