SUNNY skies, smooth sailing and tight lines are predicted for the Noosa Riverfest Regatta that kicks off tomorrow at the Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club, Noosaville.
Now in its 18th year, the festival showcases the stunning Noosa River and its surrounds, as well as the skill and talent of local fishermen and sailors.
The event is perfect for a family day out and runs from 30 May to 1 June, with events for the whole family and plenty of action to watch.
The Kid’s fishing clinic is perfect for children aged 6 to 14 years, where they can learn to bait their hook, as well as the rules and etiquette of fishing, so they can land a big one in no time.
Mum and Dad can enjoy live music from the deck of the NYRC on Saturday and Sunday, while enjoying a meal and drink from the club’s restaurant and catching the action of the sailing and rowing regattas.
The Noosa Ferry will race an eight-man scull team in what is sure to be a highlight of the three-day festival.
The fishing competition will start on Friday and run throughout the weekend with the chance to win major prizes for the largest fish caught in each category.
There is an emphasis on catch and release, with the live fish tank on the foreshore always proving a tourist attraction in itself.
