Workshop initiative to aid Noosa business growth

A large number of business in the Noosa Shire are micro-businesses with a broad age demographic.
Many people come to the shire (both single and with family) lured by this great lifestyle. They soon realise the difficulty to gain employment, so they start a business.
According to ABS statistics only five per cent of small business in Australia do any strategic planning.
The Noosa Chamber of Commerce and Industry assisted by the Noosa Council Economic Development initiative is pleased to announce the arrival of the Business Success Workshop.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics claim 60 per cent of small business fail in their first three years of operation. The ABS data also indicates the vast majority (44 per cent) fail due to lack of strategic planning. Launching in September, the BSW will assist Noosa business owners to develop a simple and effective strategic plan, aimed at reducing this statistic.
Mayor Tony Wellington congratulated the chamber on developing this initiative.
“It’s wonderful to see our local chamber providing this type of support to the business community. This program will make a significant contribution to the overall health of the local economy by helping local businesses discover the tools for success,” he said.
The top three reasons most people run into trouble are:
* Jumping into the business and beavering away madly hoping that all will be well, because their idea is great and they have a great work ethic, however, they have had no “how to run a business” training.
* The perception that it is too difficult and that you need a marketing/business degrees to manage the hurdles.
* Even with some business training, becoming too focused on working “in the business” and do not make any time to work “on the business”.
The Business Success Workshop consists of the two two-hour modules delivered over two days, a week apart, conducted by two extremely experienced businessmen resident in the Noosa Shire. Attendees will emerge with a roadmap complete with goals, milestones and action items that will set them on the path to success. One of the BSW coaches will contact each business after 30 days to see how they are doing.
Each workshop is limited to 15/16 attendees. Each business may bring two attendees. Some workshops may have eight business(16 people) or a combination of two people and one person per business.
CCIQ Noosa is focused on establishing the environment for business to prosper and equip small business owners with the skills and knowledge to manage business in Noosa.
