THE Zonta Club of Noosa held its annual walk along the Noosa Main Beach boardwalk on Sunday (27 November) to raise awareness of violence against women.
The group was joined by locals who say no to violence and wanted to show their support for those who are living in or have survived domestic and family violence situations.
Zonta Noosa service committee member Amy Ryan said days like Sunday served as a reminder that, while not every person experienced domestic violence first-hand, “every like-minded and responsible member of our community has the power to unite and say no to violence against women”.
“Hopefully those who are suffering know that when they build the courage to speak up, they will be supported by their community and they won’t be alone,” she said.
Amy was joined by police Inspector Jon Lewis of Noosa, Noosa councillor Ingrid Jackson, former councillor Sandy Bolton, and chairman of the board of the local branches of the Bendigo Community Bank Rick Cooper and members of the Zonta Club of Maroochy.
