In for a thriller

By Hollie Harris

Recently identified by the Australian Financial Review as one of Australia’s top female crime authors, Candice Fox’s gritty, suspenseful thrillers have propelled her into international acclaim.
The acclaimed author will be heading to the Sunshine Coast for a book signing at Annies Books Peregian.
Her Bennett-Archer series has been published around the globe, was nominated for three consecutive Ned Kelly awards (winning back-to-back awards, only the second author to ever do so), and television rights have been secured.
Crimson Lake is the start of a brand new series set in the suffocating, inescapable heat of Far North Queensland, and has so far been praised by international bestselling authors Lee Child, Harlan Coben and James Patterson. Television rights were picked up before publication by the production team behind Rake and Jack Irish.
Candice’s life is the stuff of fiction itself: raised by a parole officer father and an enthusiastic foster carer mother, her childhood was full of dark tales overheard while eavesdropping around doorways.
From a young age, Candice was exposed to the dark side of humanity – police officers would appear on their doorstep at all hours of the night, dropping off children in need of urgent care, sometimes showing shocking signs of neglect and abuse.
As she grew older, she used writing as a form of escape from the chaos that was her home life. Submitting manuscruipts to hundreds of publishers over the years, she amassed over 200 rejection letters before Hades was published in 2014.
This is a fantastic opportunity to meet one of our long-term bestselling authors in the flesh on Thursday 16 February, at 2.30pm. Candice will be there for around an hour, depending on the crowd.
