Another cyclist hit-run

A memorial for local father Stephen Small was erected last week at the accident site, just days before a third cyclist was injured in a collision with a vehicle.

JUST two weeks after local father Stephen Small was struck by a ute while riding his bicycle, another local man has been rushed to hospital after a hit-and-run on Good Friday.
Police said a male cyclist aged 60 had been riding solo south on Sunrise Road at Tinbeerwah around 6.30am, near the intersection with Wombat Lane, and had stopped off on the gravel shoulder to adjust his riding gear.
The vehicle involved was also travelling south along Sunrise Road and had struck the rider whilst he was stationary on the gravel shoulder.
Police allege the vehicle failed to stop and continued south along Sunrise Road. Police recovered a side view mirror which is believed to have broken off on impact.
The cyclist involved was unable to supply a full description of the vehicle to police but it is believed to be a white or light coloured sedan.
The cyclist received non-life threatening injuries, suffering a fracture to the leg, bruising and abrasions. He was transported to Noosa Hospital.
Police are interested to speak with anyone who may have information regarding the incident.
They are currently conducting inquiries with a view to establishing the make and colour of the vehicle involved and this information is hoped to be released soon.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
