Noosa Biosphere Reserve inspires others

The management model and experiences of Noosa Biosphere Limited (NBL) have been shared with prospective Biosphere Reserve nominee groups at UNESCO’s 4th annual meeting of the Pacific Biosphere Network in Fiji.

NBL Chair, Dr Sue Davis, was invited to attend and share the Noosa experience. New proposals are in the works for Biosphere Reserves to be established in Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, PNG, New Zealand and the Cook Islands and their nominees were keen to hear about the real life experiences of those who have been through the process. Dr Davis said the meeting had been “a real affirmation of the achievements of our Noosa Biosphere Reserve community. Sometimes you need to step back and see things from a different perspective to really appreciate what we have.”
