Noosa busking championships

By Hollie Harris

Next Saturday, a must-see event is coming to the banks of the Noosa River – The Noosa Busking Championships are part of a nationwide cultural celebration of music and street performances with five regional competitions held around Australia during 2017.
On Saturday 10 June, from 9am-5pm, along Gympie Terrace and the Noosa River, see and listen to musicians performing in the Australian National Busking Championships regional finals, being held for the first time in Noosa.
Registered musicians including solo performers, choirs, ensembles, junior and senior school groups and others will perform at selected sites along the Noosa River in 30 minute spots.
Busking heats will be held along Gympie Terrace, Noosaville, and on the Noosa River foreshore on Saturday 10 June from 9am to 5pm. Roaming judges and people’s choice using “Busker Dollars” will determine three finalists in each of the Open Section, Secondary and Primary School Sections. Other awards include Best Band, People Choice and Special Judges prizes.
Come and enjoy a great day out along the beautiful Noosa River foreshore with musicians playing a variety of music from blues, jazz to vocal and harmonisers and rock and roll.
The Noosa Busking Championships are presented by “Rotary Noosa Heads” and the “Noosa Come Together” Festival. All profits will be distributed to local disability charities including the Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club’s Sailability programme.
