Virtual reality art created

By Margaret Maccoll

Out of this world art is being produced by students from seven Noosa schools using the latest virtual reality art tools.
Create Noosa has partnered with Noosa schools to enable 64 students to take part in creating 3D light painting and sculpting artworks using Google Tilt Brush and HTC Vive headsets.
St Andrews Anglican College Head of Visual Arts Ben Hedstrom said he was so impressed with the technology he was now using it in his art classes.
“When the students are creating art in the VR environment, they don’t want to leave it,” he said.
The finished products will be entered into a virtual reality art competition, and Noosa Mayor Tony Wellington will award prizes for the best artworks at a special event on 12 June at St Andrew’s new Institute of Learning.
A selection of the artworks will be on display at Noosa Regional Gallery after the competition.
