A job well done

Tourism Noosa owes much of its success to the efforts of its 104 volunteers and on Friday said thank you with a celebratory breakfast at the Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club.

Many of the dedicated team are long term volunteers with 30 per cent having been with the organisation for more than 10 years.

Tourism Noosa CEO Damien Massingham said while paid staff concentrate their efforts on bringing outsiders to Noosa it was up to the volunteers to ensure they enjoyed their time in the shire.

“They greet everyone with a smile. They are well informed. They tell people about the hinterland to ensure visitors are well dispersed and they make sure everyone has a great experience during their time in Noosa,” he said.

Volunteer coordinator Cathy Mitchell said the volunteers had a very important role to play in tourism and over the past year had clocked up 16,000 volunteer hours of work.
