U9 Match report by Pamela Campbell-Jones

This week found the U9 Eumundi Dragons battled a well-drilled Grammar in a tough game on a soggy field, in a match dominated by defence.

Grammar got off to a flying start in the first half, but the Dragons dug in and managed to hold their own in a low scoring game. Our Dragons worked hard from start to finish and have developed into a team that supports each other. There were gallant efforts all over the field – Craig Yaxley being given Man of the Match for great tackles, just as he had practiced in training. Alex Bendevi was also awarded for his consistent effort throughout the game, getting in and having a go.

Patrick O’Grady, Max Johnson-Thompson, Will and Jack Sparks all made some good runs up the field, and Jett Herbert scored two, full length of the field tries showing speed and strength.

It is a pleasure to watch this group of boys learning and growing into a team that works hard and for each other. They are improving each and every week – GO DRAGONS!

U8 Match report written by U8’s coach Will Vine

Not even heavy rains the night before could stop the Dragons team having fun in the mud and puddles at Sippy Downs’ University grounds on Saturday. In fact it may even have been an incentive to reach the try line for many! Better still was seeing the hard work drilling keeping the ball and passing techniques put in at mid week training coming to life with more time spent with the ball this week against Grammar.

Our forwards did well protecting the ball with the backs making lots of great runs towards the try line. While all the boys played their best game of the season so far there were two players that really showed their mettle.

Josh Vine made 4 huge runs through the pack scored three tries while Jet Davies had another great game and was awarded with player of the game for his efforts. I am proud to say that the Eumundi Dragons under 8s diligence is being to pay off with new skills and passion for the game and their team.
