COOLUM TENNIS

The Coolum Tennis Club has a busy month ahead leading up to Christmas.
The juniors start their semi-finals this weekend, with finals the following weekend.
The ladies’ fixtures also start finals on 7 November. The B-Grade Ladies Championships and the B-Grade Doubles Championships will be played during social tennis on Thursdays, with the ladies on the 13 November and mixed doubles on 20 November and presentations at the Christmas party. Junior championship dates will be announced next week.
The Christmas party will be on 7 December.
Coolum has been chosen for the venue to promote tennis on the Sunshine Coast. On Saturday, 8 November, Tennis Australia will be running a promotion day at Tickle Park from 10am until 1pm. The week following, Coolum Tennis will be running a free tennis day on Saturday 15 November from 10am until 2pm. Coolum Tennis Club will be offering next year’s membership for new members commencing from that date, so if anyone is considering becoming a member this will be a very good offer.
Club coach, Andrew Ash, has been nominated for Hot Shots Coach of the Year, and Coach of the Year. The club appreciate having such a quality coach with a range of coaching programs available.
As well as coaching, social tennis has seen an increase in numbers and this is partly due to new arrivals and holiday makers. There were three new players this last week – Arvid who has moved to the area, Loz is building a house and hopes to join us soon and Kerryn is holidaying in the area for the next 2 months. They all appreciated their friendly welcome and the great tennis on offer.
