Dropouts in chamber’s sights

Internet anger? A Noosa Chamber of Commerce survey wants to help determine the scope of Noosa's internet connectivity issues.

NOOSA businesses are hungry for faster and more reliable internet as the demand for instant information and reliable connectivity exceeds the capabilities of suppliers.
In a bid to determine the scope of the issue, the Noosa Chamber of Commerce has launched an “internet service survey” to determine the number of businesses struggling with shonky internet speeds and persistent “drop-outs” in connectivity.
The results from the survey will then be sent to internet service providers to assist with a higher quality of service.
The online survey can be found via the Noosa Chamber of Commerce website and includes 12 specific questions around internet speeds, connection reliability and internet dependence from each business.
Chamber president Sarah Fisher said the survey would provide the chamber with clear information about current internet service, speed and the desire for its improvement.
“Your answers will help us clarify the current state, speed and quality of the internet service available in the greater Noosa region including:
Noosa Heads, Noosaville, Tewantin, Cootharabra, Cooroy, Coolum, Peregian Beach, Peregian Springs, Doonan, Eumundi and everywhere in between,” she said.
“We need to understand who needs a better internet service and the real figures drawn from this survey will contribute directly to the push for immediate improvement.”
Mrs Fisher said the information would be made available to current and new ISP’s providing ADSL2+ in the area – provided survey participants agreed to share their responses.
“All results will be considered and collated to contribute to real statistics that make it easier for the Noosa Chamber of Commerce to push for improvement in internet services for our region,” Mrs Fisher said.
