Greens’ launch is on song

GREENS candidate for the State seat of Noosa, Joe Shlegeris, has taken another stab at the LNP Government, premier Campbell Newman and LNP Noosa MP Glen Elmes – this time in song form.
Set to the tune of the “Drunken Sailor” Mr Shlegeris has launched his campaign song in which he re-wrote the lyrics, sings and appears in a film clip playing the ukulele with three colourfully-dressed lead singers and a group of Greens’ supporters as back up.
“What should we do with the LNP – Bad for you and bad for me – What shall we do with the LNP – On election day-oh,” was the chorus of the song which Mr Shlegeris has posted on his campaign website (www.joefornoosagreens.com).
“If you’re writing a song about what to do with this LNP government, it’s obvious what tune you should use,” Mr Shlegeris wrote with the posting.
The song also mentions Mr Elmes with the line “What shall we do with a guy called Glen Elmes – Send him home to wind his Rolex”.
All jingles aside, Mr Shlegeris is taking a tough fight to the LNP government and he has aimed two of his six key policies at increasing employment.
His six key policies including: Economy – free small business to create jobs, reduce state debt; Employment – create more local jobs; Environment – protect and improve our natural abundance; Energy – enable clean, cheap electricity and free the access to the grid; Equity – stop wasteful subsidies to mining giants; and Enhance/Expand – health services.
Mr Shlegeris has also voiced his support for Sunshine Coast Council suburbs Eumundi, Doonan, Verrierdale and Wayba Downs joining Noosa Council as proposed by the EDV Residents Group.
Mr Shlegeris sent flyers around the four suburbs expressing his views on the matter.
“I support wholeheartedly the proposed boundary change which would bring the EDV areas into the Noosa Council,” the flyer read.
“It is simply fair that the wishes of the EDV residents be respected.”
Mr Shlegeris also said the re-boundary move made sense in order to bring the currently split Lake Weyba into one council.
“As long as the LNP-aligned Sunshine Coast Council can count on the support of the LNP State Government, EDV residents can expect their wishes to be ignored,” he wrote.
