Nippers in carnival mood

LAST weekend over 80 Sunshine Beach Nippers along with their support crew of water safety, officials, sunblock appliers, esky carriers and tent managers, converged on Rainbow Beach to compete in this year’s Junior Banjo’s Memorial Carnival.
It is the first and only carnival of the season where all Nipper age groups from U8 to U15 participate.
The day proved a truly festive occasion with plenty of camaraderie and smiles among the 13 competing surf clubs.
For many, this was their first carnival experience and for some, their first experience with waves.
In testing conditions, with the wind producing choppy surf, the shore dump and side sweep took no prisoners.
But this was nothing unusual for our Sunshine Nippers, they all rocked.
Every Nipper had a crack at it and all had a load of fun. Maroochydore took first place in the overall points tally, with Alexandra Headland second and Sunshine Beach finishing third.
